Rampant fangirling [Oct. 12th, 2012|08:09 pm]
うさ-p: It got all pruny in the brain water.

I met Peter S. Beagle at Comic Con today! and had a complete and total fangasm of epic proportions! Asdfjkl; I was grinning like an idiot, but he was so nice and didn't seem to mind.  He signed a bunch of my booksthat I brought from home and I bought the remaining few that I was missing, then we chatted a little bit about his work and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (because of my Buffy bag). He's a Spike fan, wouldn't you know?

I missed him last year because he was in the Artist's Alley which I usually don't go to, so I made sure to check again this year. I'm going to try to see Catherynne M. Valente at a bookstore downtown later this month and go fangirl at her to sign my books.

Heh. It's not just you. I met him at a con party last year, and we talked about beer and whisky and a mutual friend who had recently died, and I kept having this "OMG I'm chatting in a perfectly normal manner! To Peter S Beagle!!" thought wash through my head...

Of course, right now I am having an "OMG Chaz Brenchley commented on my LJ post in a perfectly normal manner!" moment, and it will be shortly followed by a "will it be weird if I fangirl about the Outremer series?" moment.

I always want to chime in on your cat posts (I am a cat fan, as my icon says) but I always chicken out. Actually, I did comment once, as in I went as far as pressing the post button, but then I lost my nerve and deleted it.

I know writers are not scary (for the most part) but it's still a little terrifying to present your gooey heart to them and say thank you for melting it.

Heh. It always boggles me a little, when people get all fan-hesitant and shy at me, for lo: I am just Chaz, and shyer than any of you, and isn't it just more comfy if we both squee at Peter S Beagle instead? and... Yeah. Like that.

But thank you: I don't often hear back from readers, and it's always a thrill.

The boys, on the other hand, expect constantly to hear back from cat-fans, especially their own, so do chime in at will.
